Scholarship

For a complete list of UTA scholarships, go here. Be sure to check this page frequently, as scholarships will appear once the application has been made available and disappear once the application due date has passed.

 

Bart Lewis Memorial Scholarship – Open to French majors with 12 hours of UTA French coursework and a 3.0 GPA. Apply online here.

 

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship – Open to U.S. Citizens in good academic standing at their university who receive a Federal Pell Grant. Students are selected on the basis of financial need, with preference given to under-represented groups such as ethnic minorities and disabled individuals. Additional information and application dates are available on the Gilman website.

 

Modern Languages Endowed Scholarship – Open to French, Spanish, or CLIS majors preparing to take 3000-level French courses and attend full-time in the fall. This is a fall scholarship rather than a summer study abroad scholarship but is highly recommended for Chinese majors. Apply online here.

 

Bill and Tilly Wasson Scholarship for Study Abroad – Open to Liberal Arts majors enrolled full-time this fall and spring who have not participated in a study abroad program before. Apply online via the College of Liberal Arts Scholarship website.

 

Foundation for Global Scholars – Open to U.S. Citizens with at least a 2.5 GPA whose study abroad coursework will count towards their major. Specific scholarships are also available For Pell Grant recipients, STEM majors, and majors in Art, Film, Foreign Language, and Photography. Additional information is available on the FG Scholars website.

 

Joan Nelson Study Abroad Scholarship – Open to Golden Key club members who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and whose study abroad coursework will count towards that degree. Information available on the Golden Key website.

 

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Scholarship – Open to Phi Kappa Phi members with a GPA of 3.75 of higher. Apply online at the Phi Kappa Phi website.

 

The 100,000 Strong Foundation -  formally launched in 2013 by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to help answer President Barack Obama’s call to deepen Americans’ understanding of China through study abroad. It is the 100,000 Strong Foundation’s mission to promote the expansion and diversification of Americans studying Mandarin and studying abroad in China. The goal is to bridge the gap between cultures, strengthen the bilateral economic and strategic relationship, and enhance global stability. More info here.
